Welcome! Thank you for visiting.
I am a licensed therapist, writer, and Yoga Alliance registered yoga teacher, trained in LifeForce Yoga for Mood Management, and certified in Dancing Mindfulness (a trauma-focused expressive arts therapy modality). For more than 15 years, I’ve been passionate about guiding people on a healing path toward living their most vibrant lives through movement, meditation, creativity, and connection – leading me to establish H.e.a.r.t. Center for Families.
Through a highly skilled integration of therapeutic techniques and the creative process, I assist high-achieving teens and adults move through trauma recovery, find safety and trust within themselves and others, learn healthier methods of coping, and gain a deeper respect and love for themselves.
Are you tired of being told you’re too sensitive? Has beloved time spent alone in order to recharge from social encounters turned into isolation and a sense of disconnection? Do you long to feel reconnected with others, immersed in the world, fully engaged in life and living your purpose?
Why Resilience Therapy?
Simply put, resilience is the ability to recover from setbacks and heal from upheaval. Resilience can be built by:
- cultivating a sense of belonging and security
- building personal strengths through gaining a sense of mastery and control
- enhancing self-esteem
- fostering secure relationships
- expanding social support networks
- and engaging in positive community experiences.
Each treatment plan is tailored to address your initial reason for seeking therapy, but most will include strategies to build on these concepts to enhance individual resilience. The goal, then, is not to avoid life and its challenges, but to increase your capacity to withstand hardships and live life more fully.
My clients have taught me a tremendous amount about the resiliency of the human spirit. The issues I have most often worked with entail crisis planning and prevention, self-care, complex trauma, grief and loss, mood disorders, and parent-child conflict. I also provide clinical supervision for social workers seeking licensure.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Georgia. I hold a masters degree in Social Work and bachelors’ degrees in Criminal Justice and Psychology from the University of Georgia. I got my start in community mental health before transitioning to providing therapy for youth in the foster care and juvenile justice systems. I am trained in LifeForce Yoga for Mood Management and am a certified yoga teacher with the Yoga Alliance, as well as a certified Dancing Mindfulness Facilitator through the Institute for Creative Mindfulness. Currently, I am in process of certification for Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, as well as a certificate in Nutritional and Integrative Medicine for Mental Health.
